I love giving children's books as gifts... I mean, who wouldn't enjoy getting a great book for their kids? They're beautiful, they don't take up much space, and they have longer useful lives than many toys.
So I was extremely pleased when my husband's cousin Sherri (whom I've always admired as being a smart woman), gave us a copy of The Little Mouse, The Red Ripe Strawberry, and The Big Hungry Bear
at Christmas a few months after my oldest son was born. She said to me, "This book is one of our family's favorites and I hope you enjoy it too". Isn't that awesome? I love it! I love family members sharing their favorite books with each other.And yes, The Little Mouse, The Red Ripe Strawberry and the Big Hungry Bear is a very enjoyable children's book. The story and illustrations are charming. It's suspenseful but not too scary, and I love saying "BOOM, BOOM, BOOM" when the big hungry bear tromps through the forest trying to find a red, ripe strawberry.

We adore this book too. We've got it in a board book format and gave a paper pages one in German to my niece. Fun story and great illustrations.
A board book sounds great! I love finding board books, especially oversize board books. We don't own any, but I've been tempted whenever I see them available.
