I love pop-up and lift the flap books.  Found this gem of a book at a garage sale last summer.  In the story, the writer asks the Zoo for a pet, and each page shows a special package from the zoo with an animal inside.  It takes a while for the Zoo to find an appropriate pet --- every page holds an exciting discovery for readers to see what the Zoo has sent. 

The words and photos are simple and the drawings of the packages and the animals are delightful.  It is one of my 3-year-old's favorite books, and he enjoys announcing the name of each animal he finds inside.
